Cousins a-plenty!

CousinsThis was Easter 2009.  But here are all of our cousins  . . . Ben, Ainsley, Madie, Taylor, Gordon, and Kamryn.  Gordon has more hair now but everyone still looks very much the same (but taller).   Or course,  my sister and brother-in-law are the photographers (that’s why the pictures are awesome!).  I couldn’t find a picture of my brother-in-law taking a photo, but I am including my sister hamming it up with Ainsley!

We return to normal!

All of the children are back in school today.  No one is sick.  (Quick throw salt over your shoulder, knock on wood, and cross yourself!)  I walked the older two into class today and got all of their absentee notices straightened out.  I hope that Ainsley, Chris and I have an immunity made of iron because we haven’t been sick yet with this flu.

On a higher note, the kitchen tile was grouted today.  It only took a couple of months, but the backsplash is finished.  Thank God.  One step down and twenty to go!!!  We have discovered that home ownership can suck sometimes.  The paint in Ben’s room started peeling off the wall.  We took a putty knife and all five layers of paint came off the wall like wallpaper (in one thick layer).  Not sure why.  The drywall is not damaged, but all that is left is drywall and texture.  Weird.  No, our home is not straight out of the book of Leviticus and our home is not possessed, but some days . . .

Swine Flu!

We have the swine flu.  Well, only Madie and Ben have had the swine flu.  Ben got it last week and was finally able to go back to school after a week.  Madie will get to back to school on Tuesday.  My only hope is that Ainsley doesn’t get it.  And of course, I hope that Chris and I don’t get it either.  Madie had it worse than Ben.  Mainly because Ben was able to get Tamiflu, but Madie didn’t qualify to receive it.  So she felt bad for several days.  She is better now but still contagious.  We have been in quarantine for almost two weeks now.  I will be glad when this is over.  Friends have been helping us out with picking the kids up from school (the ones who aren’t sick).  I realized on Thursday night while I was driving to the library that I hadn’t been out of the house since Monday.

Soon we will all be healthy again and able to resume our lives!

Foam Party at Church

IMG_0948
IMG_0933IMG_0937IMG_0941IMG_0945The kids were looking forward to this day since they saw pictures of it last summer on the church’s website.  The day was below 100 degrees so it is fun.  Ainsley only stayed for a little bit before she was finished being dirty with bubbles.  The other two stayed until the bubbles went away.  Of course, Ben ended up getting sick later and throwing up because of the heat and the bubbles.  He was fine but we had to come home early.  All in all it was a good day!

IMG_0931Ainsley and Rosie have a contemptuous relationship. Rosie is trying to climb up the food chain in our house.  Rosie does not generally like Ainsley.  Most of the time Rosie is attacking Ainsley.  She jumps on Ainsley’s head  from the top of the stairs.  Jumps out at her from under chairs and the back of the coach.  Ainsley generally yells back.  Only when Ainsley is asleep does Rosie win.

For those non-Texans out there, taking pictures of your children in a field of bluebonnets is an annual event.  In the spring time when the bluebonnets are looking their best, you will see parents pulled over to the side of farm roads, highways and the interstate with cameras in hand trying to get the best pictures of their children.  Some parents hire professional photographers to take these important pictures.  We (well, really it was me with a reluctant husband by my side)  grabbed our cameras and our three children and hit the road looking for the perfect patch of bluebonnets.  These pictures are our first annual photos.
