Madie earned six awards tonight. More than anyone! She did so good. She had the most AR points in the whole school. She had the most AR points in the whole fourth grade, of course. A certificate signed by President Obama for straight A’s. She had a highest reading grade in her class. She read all 20 bluebonnet books! (She was the first in the entire school and got to pick the movie for the AR party). She was a member of the Conroe Feeder Choir. Six awards! I am so proud of her. Strangers were coming up to her congratulating her on her achievements. She is such a special young lady.
I am a proud Mama! Madie is a shining star!

SOAP BOX ALERT!!
This is not worthy to put up front where Madie might see, but I have been to several awards assemblies lately and I have seen the same behavior from parents at all of them. It is rude (RUDE) to leave as soon as your child receives their award. If you have to leave, do NOT sit in the front few rows where it is obvious to everyone what you are doing. Parents were leaving in droves at these assemblies as soon as their child would receive their award. What are they teaching their children? That only their award is important? I have two children who didn’t receive ANYTHING at these award assemblies, and yet we teach them to be positive and to clap for everyone. It isn’t an easy lesson. Ainsley and Ben are usually very sad before we get to school. It always takes a pep talk to remind them that we are here to honor those who earned the awards today. That some days are special just for them, but today is special for someone else. Some of the best lessons we can teach our children is to think about others and that the world doesn’t always just circle us!
Ok, I’m done.
Amen Sista!!!
