Labor Day Festivities

I have a love/hate relationship with home improvement projects.  I love the finished product, but usually hate the process that it takes to get there.  I asked Chris to fix the bottom of the door so that it would quit catching on my rug.  That request turned into a total door replacement.  All I asked is that it be completely finished by the end of the day.  Lock and all.  And by golly . . . he did it.  And now I have a wonderful new energy efficient door.  The neighbors can’t even hear us shut the door anymore!!  Wow. What a concept!

And Ainsley has it.  I’m not sure what it is, but she keeps complaining that her brain hurts. Cute.  She’s got a massive headache and it is making her nauseous.  Poor thing.  She ran a low-grade fever all yesterday until the evening when she woke up from a nap with a 103 degree fever. The scenario seems to be repeating itself today. Hopefully she will get over it soon.  I just hope that she is better by Tuesday, since that is the first day back.

Of course, Madie  was just upset about how she was going to make it to church. She did not want to miss out.  She loves going to church. She woke up at 6:00am to check with Daddy to see if she could ride with him.  Fortunately for her, we had procured a ride for her with a friend so that she didn’t have to leave until closer to the 10:30 start time.  By the time I was up and dressed, Ben was up, dressed, and had a tie on.  I guess he really wanted to go to.  He told us he didn’t want to go to church last night, but I think the thought of hanging out with his friends  . . . instead of the original plan of him and Madie sitting by themselves and having to spend all morning at church with Dad . . . was just too good to pass up.  He told me this morning that he just needed “time” with them. He hasn’t had any “friend” time in a while.  I am glad that he changed his mind.  And he did look adorable in the shirt and tie that did not match, but that he insisted on wearing.  I need Aunt Debra to come and do a fashion lesson with him.  I think because the messages come from Mom he can’t handle them.  At least he wants to wear a tie!

Huge blog update.

I finally was able to finish updating the blog today.  I have been absent from updates for several weeks.  Between the beginning of school and trying to catch up with all of the work I had been neglecting lately, I haven’t had time.  And I told myself that I had to get caught up before I could allow myself to post pictures.  Beside I wasn’t quite ready to be “happy” about the beginning of school.  I have officially worked through enough of my issues about missing all of my babies to be happy with them being at school.

They are all liking school.  Ainsley adores Mrs. Sellars. Ben told me that he was going to make all zeros this year so he could have Mrs. Horton as his teacher again next year.  And Madie is enjoying going to two teachers for class. Of course, she is already freaking out about the state tests this year.  Only six more months to go before she has to take them.

Our schedule  is filling up already. We have something every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  If we reserve Wednesday for church, our week is full.  We haven’t found a Boy Scout troop for Ben yet.  I fear what day that will be.  I am so glad that I decided to not do sports this fall.  I have signed up to help at school again. Ainsley and Ben’s teachers have me on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Madie’s teacher hasn’t asked me to come on a regular schedule, but I hope that it isn’t on Tuesday or Thursday.  If so, I am requesting my own parking spot at school. It’s a good thing I love to volunteer up at school.  I like having a regular schedule.  I won’t be up at school all day, so that’s good. Between co-leading two Girl Scout troops (yes. I started a new one for Ainsley), volunteering at church and school, and working at my job, I am busy.  If I say yes to anything else, I will officially go insane.  I have to practice saying “No” more often.

See the cool toys in front of our house?  They are refinishing the road.  The kids sat outside for an hour and watched the trucks going back and forth.  The road crew finished at 5pm right in front of our house.  So they were back in the morning at 7:00am to start right back up again.  And they parked all of their cool trucks on our side street in our yard.  Madie was worried about them killing the grass.  Ben wanted them to come back tomorrow and park again!

Yes. That is my boy in the tree. I just told him to not climb so high next time.  Good gracious.

Cool new hairdo.

Our neighbor braided her hair. It is so cute. And she loves it!  When we finally took it out after a week, there was a lot of sadness.  Good news is that my neighbor said she would do it again.

Chris and I took the kids to school on their first day.  This was a first day that all three went to school at the same place.  How nice this will be for at least the two years that they will all be in school.  If we are in Conroe in ten years, this will only happen again in high school and that is it!  So are enjoying the next two years.

Ainsley said, “Aren’t you ready to go now, Mom?”  I guess I needed to leave.  Sadness.  My baby was gone.  Of course, I had already cried all through HEB the night before when I went to go get groceries for lunches.  And then I cried at Meet the teacher night. And then when I finished buying school supplies.  Luckily most of my tears were gone before I had to actually drop my baby off to school.  I love them all , but I probably cried the hardest with Miss A.  Of course, Chris made me so angry on the first day of school, because he kept singing and rejoicing over the fact that we were leaving them all there.  He has no idea how sad it was for me.  He was just a little too happy.  It just made me more sad.  I finally told him to tone down his happiness.  Fortunately for him, he did.  I didn’t have to kill him after that.

All of my precious children are now in the hands of the staff of Wilkinson Elementary.  It is a good thing that I trust them.

I am not entirely sure what they are playing but I love the creativity.  Oh and I love the fact that they are getting along.  Check out the Lone Ranger disguise on Ben.  Of course, he added his own twist with the electronic devices attached to his waist.

I think that they are having a parade of some sort.  I know that there was marching involved.  Either way, it was a lot of fun.

Meet the teacher night

Ainsley and Mrs. Sellars

Ben and Mrs. Horton

Madie and Mrs. Schmidt

We hauled all of our supplies up to school and Daddy met us up there.  He unfortunately missed the part where I had to haul 100 lbs of school supplies across the parking lot, but he made it in time to meet all of the teachers.  It was great having him there.  We really enjoyed meeting all of the teachers.  Look at the smile on their faces.  They are so excited about school.

I knew that the lists were long, but when you got all of the bags together to take to school it is a huge amount.  The bags weighed a ton and the two youngest couldn’t even haul them all themselves.  They needed help.  But geez. Look at all of that stuff!  And we still had to bring more stuff on the first day of school.
